15th Street House – Iron and Wood Front Fence

August 29, 2009 – October 5, 2009

One of the projects we wanted to do was fence the front yard so Bailey could enjoy the activity on the street and visit with walkers.  Okay…we also wanted to keep other dogs and their..ummuh….presents – smile…out of our yard.  We had been scoping out fences around the area and wanted something that would fit with the historical district.  We opted for a mix of iron and wood.

When we repositioned the sprinkler we had left a section around the front of the yard in anticipation of putting a fence in.  First step was to begin digging the post holes and concreting them in.

Once all of the posts were in, it was time to ensure they were level, even, and begin installing the fence panels.  Craig had to custom cut a few of the panels to make sure the fit was perfect!  His “shop” was in the backyard.

Since the fence was mainly for Bailey, she supervisored the entire process ensuring we got it just right.  You can see her in most of the pictures, she did find time to quench her thirst and take a few doggie naps.  Supervising is a tough job!

The panel installation begins in full swing!

The gate took us while to put in because of our schedules.  We wanted it “offset” from the rest of the fence to allow room for entering.  Part of the finish product of the fence was to put caps on each post and stain the fence the same “reddish” color as the side and back fence.

Holly was “itching” to begin planning once the fence was in.  You can see the plants that were purchased and waiting next to the front of the house.
