May 14 - 15, 2019:   Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico

From Bisbee, Arizona we traveled to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico.  We skirted along the Southern portion of New Mexico and will visit the Northern section when we are on our return trip to Boise in 2020.

We arrived the evening of May 14 and boondocked on BLM land just past Whites City, New Mexico between mile marker 18 and 19.

Early the next morning we headed to Carlsbad Caverns for a day of sightseeing.  This is the first time I have been to any cave or caverns and OMG....I was a little nervous about tight spaces, however, this was HUGE and absolutely fascinating!  We did Natural Entrance Route, Big Room Route and then took a guided tour of King's Palace.

Below are a variety of pictures.

If you have never been to Carlsbad Caverns, add them to your Bucket List.  They are absolutely amazing and some of these are still active and growing to this day!  What an incredible experience and privilege to be able to see!
