La Ribera, Baja - Playa Colorada Construction

When we first came down to the Baja Peninsula in 2004 for a vacation we loved the area and wanted to buy property.  We came back in 2005 for another vacation buy property.  One of the properties we purchased was a second tier lot in Playa Colorada Subdivision which is located in La Ribera.  This property is incredible because we are one lot off the Sea or Cortez with amazing views of the water.

The pics below were taken in February 2022.  One is a 360 panoramic standing in the middle of our lot.  The red Kia Soul is our car parked in the cul-de-sac on the beach side.

July 2021 - Current:  Construction of the Casa

We have been keeping this property for many years and since we now snowbird between Idaho and Baja, we have decided to start the building process on this lot.

We have our plans completed (see below) and will begin the permitting process.  Because of the proximity to the beach we will need an additional ecological permit.  These could take up to 18 months.  This is mainly due to the current pandemic and changes in government.

Since this construction process will take time, we have decided to put this construction project on hold for now.  In the meantime, we will be building a home on one of our other lots, El Torote #3 where we completed a casita in 2021.  We will live in the El Torote #3 house until this home in Playa Colorada is completed.

Below are the renderings and floor plan for the home in Playa Colorada:

South elevation - you will drive in from the street to this view.  This is the primary entrance.

West elevation - this is off the kitchen and living room, it will be the outdoor patio, dining, and living area.

East elevation - this is the master bedroom closet and bath area.  Patio off the front facing the Sea of Cortez.

North elevation - this is the access to the cul-de-sac and access to the beach.  Living, kitchen patio on the left.  Master patio on the right.

Floor Plans - Since we are on a 2nd tier lot, the lot has a nice slope.  We will build a lower level into this slope (similar to a daylight basement) as our foundation for the main level of the house which is on the top of the lot. 


The lower level is a 2 car garage, 1 bed/2 bath.  The second level is 2 bed/2 bath, kitchen, living.

February 2022:  Construction Currently On Hold Until Permitting Process Is Complete
